Daedelus

The electronic artist/producer Alfred Darlington a.k.a. Daedelus gives a very interesting interview on how he uses technology to create music, his gear set up, and most importantly, what inspires him. From how he uses his software and what it’s designed for exactly, to his desire to incorporate Victorian aesthetics and the work of Joseph Cornell into the fabric of his music, Daedelus spills his guts in the very candid talk. What I found incredibly interesting about the whole thing is Darlington’s total lack of pretension and ego when he discusses his work. Seeing his inner-workings adds a new layer of understanding to his music that he seems to comprehend and encourage throughout the interview. If only more artists were more willing to open up about their creative goals and visions, I think it would bring a new dialog to music creation and a new appreciation and interaction for fans.
